Blurring the Line Between Work and Play
Any given training program has a stated objective. Underlying all training programs is the overriding objective of equipping employees to act responsively. Giving employees a say in how their day unfolds increases their response-ability. When an individual responds rather than reacting, they are better able to serve customers and make decisions that are in the highest interest of the enterprise.
Training employees, whether through on-the-job or off-site programs, assists them in taking the next step in their own process. As they develop their skills and talents, they are able to more fully contribute to the success of the enterprise and appreciate their own value. The joy of knowing that what one does is valuable inspires us all to contribute even more.
The result of focusing attention on the importance of each employee is what builds a team. Respect between employees is a result of understanding the contribution that each makes and the interrelatedness of the work. Business is a team sport and there is nothing less like work than a team that is in its "zone".
